Shallots/Chriya Ully/Small onion -10 (Cut into 4 pieces)
OR Onion -1/2 cup
Curry Leaves -1 spring
Red Chilly flakes -1/2 tsp (Optional)
Green Chilly -2
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Oil -2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Directions :
Wash the Kovakka/Tindora and drain all the water
Cut top and bottom of the kovakka and slice it lengthwise or thick rounds
Cut the
Shallots into 4 pieces or onion into medium size slices
In a pan ,heat the oil and add Mustard seeds.When it pop ups, add the Kovakka ,Green Chilly,Curry leaves and stir occasionally(Reduce the heat into low flame)
Cook for 3-5 minutes and then add salt ,onion and mix well
Cook covered for about 5-8 minutes in a low flame and stir in between
Then add chilly flakes and cook uncovered about 5 minutes ,stir occasionally
