Fish Molly/Fish Molee
Ingredients
For Marinating
- Fish -1/2 kg
- Lemon - 1
- Pepper Powder -1 tsp
- Turmeric Power -1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for Frying
For Gravy
- Onion-2 cup
- Ginger -1 tsp
- Garlic -5-8 cloves
- Green Chilly - 4
- Tomato - 2
- Curry Leaves -1 spring
- Pepper Powder -1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder -1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp
- Cinnamon/Karuvapatta -2 pieces
- Cardamom /Elakka-2
- Thick Coconut Milk - 1 cup
- Semi Thick Coconut Milk -1 1/2 cup
- Mustard seeds/Kaduaku- 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek /Uluva-1/4 tsp
- Fennel/Perum Jeerakam -1/4 tsp
- Oil -2 tbsp
Directions
- Clean the fish and cut into thin slices
- Cut the onion and tomato into medium size slices and keep aside
- Marinate the fish with turmeric powder,pepper powder,Lemon juice and salt keep it for 15-20 minutes
- Heat the oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish and keep it aside
- In the same pan add 2 tsp oil and heat it (Don't add extra oil if you have more oil after frying the fish)
- Add mustard seeds ,when it splutter add fenugreek and saute till it become brown
- Then add onion,ginger ,garlic and curry leaves
- Saute for few minutes and add the crushed whole spices and powders and mix well.
- Pour the semi thick coconut milk into the mixture and allow it to boil
- Add the fried fish and half portion of the tomato slices and cook till gravy become thick
- Then add the thick coconut milk and remaining tomato and mix it well and cook for few more minutes (Don't bring to boil ) and remove from the fire
- Adjust the salt and pepper to your taste
- Serve with Appam ,Rice,Bread etc
