Tomato Rice/Thakkali Sadam


Ingredients

  1. Cooked Basmati Rice - 2 cup
  2. Tomato silced- 2
  3. Onion sliced -1 cup
  4. Green Chilly - 3 slit into two
  5. Red chilly -2
  6. Urad dal -1/2 tsp
  7. Peanut -1/4 cup (Optional)-Roasted and unsalted
  8. Turmeric Powder -1/2 tsp
  9. Curry Leaves -1 spring
  10. Coriander leaves -for garnishing (optional)
  11. Garlic -3 cloves
  12. Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  13. Oil -3 tbs
  14. asafoetida -1 pinch (optional)
  15. Salt to taste

Directions

  • Cook the rice and drain the excess water and allow it to cool
  • Heat the oil in a pan add mustard seeds.When it pop ups add Red chilly, onion,green chilly ,curry leaves and garlic,cook till onion become light brown
  • Add the slice tomato and cook till tomato slices are disappeared
  • Add turmeric powder and asafoetida and mix well
  • Add salt mix well and taste it
  • Add cooked rice and peanuts into the mixture and mix well
  • Garnish with Coriander leaves
  • Serve with Pickle or appalam or raita

Tips 
  • Allow the cooked rice to cool before it adding to the lemon mixture.So that rice will not break .
  • If you like boiled egg,put egg pieces in tomato rice while serving....njoy....
