Beef Fry/Beef Ularthiyathu
Ingredients
- Beef -1/2 kg
- Chilly Powder -2 tbs
- Coriander powder -1 tbsp
- Pepper powder-1 tbs
- Shallots/Cheriya ulli-6
- Coconut pieces-1/2 cup (optional)
- Garlic - 5 cloves
- Ginger-1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For Roast
- Onion -1/2 cup
- Pepper Powder-1/2 tsp
- Chilly Powder -1/2 tsp
- Curry Leaves -2 spring
- Garam masala -1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
- Oil-2 tbsp
Direction
- Cut beef into small cubes and wash thoroughly
- In a pressure cooker add beef ,spices powders ,salt and all other ingredients and mix well
- Keep it marinated for about 15 minutes
- Add 1/4 cup water and cook for about 6-7 whistle
Note : If you don't have pressure cooker , add 1 cup water in the marinated beef and cook in a heavy bottom pan with a tight lid.Stir occasionally ,otherwise bottom will burn.
Cook for about 20 minutes or cook till beef pieces are nicely cooked
- Heat the oil in heavy bottom pan and add mustard seeds and allow it to pop up
- Add onion and Curry leaves and saute till onion become brown
- Add chilly powder , pepper powder and garam masala
- Add cooked beef to the pan, and saute on medium heat till beef completely dry
Note : This is a spicy dish.You can reduce the quantity of chilly powder and pepper powder dependents on your taste
