Beef Fry/Beef Ularthiyathu


Ingredients

  1. Beef -1/2 kg
  2. Chilly Powder -2 tbs
  3. Coriander powder -1 tbsp
  4. Pepper powder-1 tbs
  5. Shallots/Cheriya ulli-6
  6. Coconut pieces-1/2 cup (optional)
  7. Garlic - 5 cloves
  8. Ginger-1 tsp
  9. Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
  10. Salt to taste

For Roast

  1. Onion -1/2 cup
  2. Pepper Powder-1/2 tsp
  3. Chilly Powder -1/2 tsp
  4. Curry Leaves -2 spring
  5. Garam masala -1/2 tsp
  6. Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  7. Oil-2 tbsp

Direction


  • Cut beef into small cubes and wash thoroughly
  • In a pressure cooker add beef ,spices powders ,salt and all other ingredients and mix well
  • Keep it marinated for about 15 minutes 
  • Add 1/4 cup water and cook for about 6-7 whistle
Note : If you don't have pressure cooker , add 1 cup water in the marinated beef and cook in a heavy bottom pan with a tight lid.Stir occasionally ,otherwise bottom will burn.
Cook for about 20 minutes or cook till beef pieces are nicely cooked
  • Heat the oil in heavy bottom pan and add mustard seeds and allow it to pop up
  • Add onion and Curry leaves and saute till onion become brown
  • Add chilly powder , pepper powder and garam masala 
  • Add cooked beef to the pan, and saute on medium heat till  beef completely dry
Note : This is a spicy dish.You can reduce the quantity of chilly powder and pepper powder dependents on your taste
