Thakkali Curry/Tomato Curry


Ingredients

  1. Tomato - 2
  2. Green chilly -4
  3. Onion -1/2 cup
  4. Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  6. Curry Leaves -1 Spring
  7. Oil -2 tsp
  8. Salt to taste

For Gronding

  1. Grated Coconut -3/4 cup
  2. Cumin seeds-1/4 tsp 
  3. Shallots/Cheriya ulli-3

Directions

  • Wash and cut the tomato into medium size slices and cut the onion into thin slices and keep it aside
  • Grind Coconut,Cumin seeds and Shallots to make a smooth paste
  • Heat the oil in a pan add mustard seeds,when it crackles add Curry leaves and sliced onion and saute till onion become light brown
  • Add tomato and green chilly and saute till tomatoes are nicely cooked
  • Now add Turmeric powder and salt and cook for a minute add little water and allow it to boil
  • Add the ground mixture and stir well
  • Adjust the Salt and water 
  • Cook in the medium flame about 5 minutes and remove from the fire
  • Serve with rice.
