Ela Ada


Ela Ada

Ingredients

  1. Rice flour/Ediyappam Podi - 1 1/2 cup
  2. Boiled water -1 1/2 cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Jaggery - 150 gm
  5. Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  6. Cardamom - 3
  1. Banana Leaves for wrapping
Directions :

For Dough:
  • Add salt to the Boiling water
  • Add this water slowly to the rice flour to make a soft dough
For Filling:
  • In a pan add 3 tsp water and bring it to boil
  • Add jaggery and let it melt
  • Add Coconut and cardamom powder and stir till it become thick
Making Ada:
  • Wash the banana leaves and place it in the low flame for few seconds
  • Cut the leaves into rectangular shape
  • Make small balls using the dough and spread each balls in the leaves(it should be in circle shape)
  • Place the jaggery mixture in the half portion of the spread dough and fold the leaf
  • In an idly cooker boil some water and keep the idly making plate and place the ada on it
  • Close the lid and cook for 20 minutes
